You already know where the important paper is supposed to be. The problem is that it is never in one place.

The CC permit is in the safe. The passport is in a drawer. The homeowners policy is a PDF in email. The first-aid booklet is in a kitchen cabinet. The rifle manual is still in the box in the basement. The emergency contact list is on the refrigerator — unless someone took it down. When something actually happens, you do not want a scavenger hunt.

**Version 1.5** adds **Document Center**. One module. One list. The files that used to live everywhere now live with the rest of your readiness records.

This is not a “pro only” extra. **Document Center is full functionality in Community Edition and in Standard, lifetime.** Same vault. Same relations. Same alerts.

**What it holds**

Anything you would need when the ordinary day stops being ordinary:

- Medical instructions and first-aid care
- Firearm use and maintenance manuals
- CC permits and other licenses
- Passports and ID copies
- Homeowners and insurance policies
- Training records and warranties
- Emergency contact lists
- Wills and the papers you cannot afford to lose
- And whatever else you decide belongs in the kit — the type list is yours to extend

Each record has a title, a type, optional start and expiration dates, a description, and the files themselves. Expiration feeds the same Alert Manager you already use for food and inspections. A CCW that lapsed last month should not be a surprise.

**Tie it to what you already track**

A document does not have to float in space. Relate it to a firearm, ammunition, food stores, other essentials, a maintenance log, or a checklist — or leave it as None. The Barrett manual can sit on the Barrett. The insurance rider can sit on the policy record. The “how to use this tourniquet” PDF can sit on the trauma kit.

A receipt **photo** of a gun can still live on that firearm’s inventory pictures. Document Center is for the papers and PDFs you need to *find*, *renew*, or *take with you*.

**Encrypt what needs it. Leave the rest alone.**

Not every file is a passport.

**Store in Database** puts the file in the encrypted vault — the same AES-256 protection used for the rest of your records (the class of encryption used in DoD systems). Use it for a will, a passport scan, a permit, a deed.

Leave it **unchecked** for a product manual, a stove PDF, a bulky warranty. Those can live as normal files in your data folder. No need to bloat the vault with a 40-megabyte shotgun manual.

That is the point of 1.5: **keep all the documents in one place, and encrypt only what is actually sensitive.**

You still have the paper in the safe. You should. Document Center does not replace the original. It means that when the lights are out, the internet is down, and you need the policy, the permit, or the medical PDF, you are not hoping you remember which drawer.

One list. Related to the rest of the system. Vault when it matters. Community and Standard, lifetime. You can get the Community Edition at no cost at the following link [DPO Ready Center](https://www.dataprotectionops.com/?ref=being-prepared.ghost.io)
